Caernarfon 38 - Dolgellau 31

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, and with the pitch in excellent condition, both sets of supporters were hopeful for a feast of rugby, and they were not disappointed, with a total of 11 tries scored.
The game began at a frantic pace with both sides eager to run the ball at every opportunity with the home side eager to run the ball out wide and Dolgellau's relying on their bulkier forwards. It was the Cofis who scored first through Elis Roberts, another soon followed by lively scrum half Mike Downey. Doll however were next to score against the run of play with Rob Daf crossing with Gerwyn Jones adding the extras. A speculative kick through by centre Iolo Huws fortunately hit the corner flag and bounced back in field and Adam Thomas was first to pounce on the ball and crash over. Aled Jones was successful with the conversion, which left the half time score at 17-7.
From the kick off Dafydd Hughes was first to pick up the loose ball and raced down the wing to score in the corner, which Jones converted from wide. The Cofis soon added another score when Elis Roberts intercepted a wayward pass inside his own half and raced clear to score under the posts, Jones again adding the extras to make it 31-7 to the home side. Dolgellau's continued to foray into the opposition half and following a quick tap penalty Bryn Jones crashed over and the score was now 31-12.
Cofis continued to spread the ball wide and a fine break by centre Dafydd Roberts he was held up short but from the resulting scrum Iolo Huws scored and Jones secured the conversion to make it 38-12.
With only 15 minutes left the Cofis made a number of changes with victory well within their sight. However they were nearly undone with the away side rejuvenated and eager to run the ball at every opportunity they scored 3 tries through Carwyn Pugh, Bryn Jones and Dylan Evans, with Gerwyn Jones slotting over 2 conversions to make the final score 38-31.
Next up for the Cofis is another league fixture at local rivals Bethesda
